Swine health: Virbac signs agreement with MACSO

vignette cochon.jpgThe signing of a partnership with the New Zealand pioneer in sensory artificial intelligence will provide farmers with cutting-edge technology dedicated to the early detection of respiratory issues in pigs.

Through this partnership, Virbac will serve as the exclusive distributor of MACSO's technology in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. This monitoring device uses AI to continuously "auscultate" livestock buildings and detect the first signs of respiratory problems. By analyzing the acoustic environment, temperature, and humidity, it enables unprecedented, ultra-early detection of respiratory disorders and a significant reduction in swine mortality.

Switching to a proactive strategy

Macso_vignette_site corpo.jpgRespiratory diseases account for up to 60% of global swine mortality. In response to this challenge, the solution developed by MACSO radically transforms health management.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, the system identifies distress signals between 6 days and 16 hours before symptoms become perceptible to the human eye.

"This partnership brings a digital sixth sense to livestock farming, allowing farmers to detect the invisible several days before it reveals itself. By integrating MACSO's cutting-edge AI into our Suigen range, we are improving animal welfare while promoting the responsible, data-driven use of antibiotics," underlines Christian Burkhardt, Director of Business Development & Licensing at Virbac.

In the long term, this partnership also involves the co-development of new technological tools.
